Riverside
Riverside, a charming 10 block stretch along Queen St. East, is
home to many historic sites: over 4 acres of parkland, 2 community centres, the famous Degrassi St, and over 100 local businesses and award-winning restaurants.
Riverside was named in the 1880's for its proximity to the Don River.
Prior to the 17th century, the area would have been inhabited by First Nations people including the Mississaugas, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.
The Broadview Hotel, featured in this design, built in 1891, has been a landmark building for over 130 years as a Riverside hub for clubs, businesses and athletics, and is now a 58 room boutique hotel.
