Leaside, has much to offer to both residents and visitors, particularly families with children.

 

Sunnybrook Park, featured in this design, along with the many other parks in the area, make Leaside a nature-lovers paradise. 

 

Restaurants, pubs, antique and specialty shops, many catering to children, attract visitors from all over the city. 

 

Leaside is named after William Lea, a settler from early 19th century, when the area was developed as farmland.  

 

Prior to the 17th century, the area would have been inhabited by First Nations people including the Mississaugas, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.

 

European's began passing through the area in the 17th century.

 

Leaside was incorporated as a town in 1913, amalgamated with East York in 1967, and in 1998 became part of the city of Toronto.
